Victory Briefs LLC provides comprehensive educational resources to the high school speech and debate community, which, according to the National Forensic League, includes a membership of over 6500 coaches and upwards of 93,000 students nationwide. Victory Briefs offers four distinct lines of products, focusing mainly on the Lincoln-Douglas debate event: textbooks and topic briefs; a summer debate camp; a national debate tournament; and a website/online community.
Victory Briefs publishing distributes both a perpetual library of instruction books as well as periodical briefs that prepare students for each of the five Lincoln-Douglas topics that come out every two months throughout the school year. These briefs attract loyal customers who typically purchase an entire set of briefs each year and then.
The Victory Briefs Institute (VBI) has established itself as the leading summer institute for Lincoln-Douglas debate. Each summer VBI welcomes roughly 350 campers, grades 8-12, over the course of three sessions, which take place at major universities (UCLA and LMU in Los Angeles).
The Victory Briefs Tournament is one of the premier Lincoln-Douglas tournaments in the country, attracting roughly 150 students from over 40 schools.
Finally, the Victory Briefs website serves as the online focal point of the Lincoln Douglas Community. Victory Briefs Daily includes coverage of tournaments, feature stories on debate culture, in-depth discussions of debate strategies and issues, as well as more lighthearted entries. The site is updated daily and is considered required reading by many debaters. Monthly traffic includes 15,000 unique visitors and over 4 million hits. The website attracts a specific audience that appeals to many advertisers, including test prep, college counseling, and other businesses that market products and services to the nation's elite high school students.

Mike Bietz
Managing Director
Mike Bietz has been working in interactive marketing since 1995. Hired as an administrative assistant at a cutting-edge consulting firm (who happened to build the first-ever ColdFusion web application), Mike was quickly promoted to a project management roll. Once the firm was purchased by British Telecommunications, Mike moved into business development with a focus on market research and strategic alliances for the Syntegra US (the systems integration arm of British Telecom). After successfully implementing a product sales division with Allaire (now owned by Macromedia/Adobe), which had revenues of over $500,000 in the first two quarters, Mike moved on to become the Director of Marketing for Stomped - a website dedicated to the PC/Online gaming community. With revenues of over $250,000 a month from online advertising, Stomped built a one-of-a-kind LAN gaming center which was quickly recognized by the video game community as the pre-eminent center in the world. In negotiating sponsorships from a wide-variety of gaming companies, such as Alienware, Microsoft, Razr and other companies marketing to gamers, Mike helped build Stomped into one of the most successful online to brick-and-morter stories to date. Since leaving Stomped Mike has been an independent consultant helping small companies with their branding and marketing strategies.
During this time, Mike has also become one of the most successful debate coaches in recent history. He has been awarded Coach of the Year awards at a number of national tournaments, as well as the 2004 Minnesota Debate Teachers Association Coach of the Year. In addition to coaching champions of nearly every major national tournament, Mike also coached champions at the National Tournament of Champions and National Forensic League National Tournament. He is currently director of debate at the Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, and serves on the Tournament of Champions advisory committee, the Board of the National Debate Coaches Association, and official at the California State Debate Tournament.
